1 dead, others injured in Kisii accident

One person died while several others were injured on Sunday morning after a vehicle were driving in was involved in an accident on the Keroka-Nyangusu Road in Kisii County.

The deceased was on his way home from Nairobi in the company of his family when he lost control of the car which veered off the road.

The yet to be identified driver died on the spot while his injured kin were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Nyamache OCPD Japheth Mwirichia, confirmed the incident, adding that police were yet to determine the cause of the accident.

“We suspect the driver may have been fatigued after driving all the way from Nairobi last night even though he was familiar with the road,” said Mwirichia.

The body of the deceased was moved to a nearby mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

The sloppy road which connects Nyamira County to Kisii County stretches for about 32KM and has been labeled a black spot in recent years due the number of lives claimed on the road.
