1 Killed After Thugs Raid Embu Villages

The gang of seven is said to have hired a taxi from Embu town and headed to Njumbiri village in Itabua location within the district before turning against the taxi driver.

Embu West OCPD Gasper Makau explained that the gang attacked patrons in a bar at around 9 pm and injured several people before proceeding to other neighboring villages of Karurina and Kamiu.

One of the victims, Elias Njue was attacked while in the company of four others but died while undergoing treatment at Embu Provincial General Hospital.

He added that the gang escaped with mobile phones and cash which they stole from their victims.

The gang managed to steal 10,000 from Doctor Stephen Njuguna after attacking his homestead.

Police say they are looking for a woman said to be the mastermind behind the attack.

The police added that they were unable to make any arrests as the gang disappeared into a maize plantation

Embu General Hospital Medical Superintendent Doctor Gerald Nderitu confirmed that one of the victims died while being treated at the hospital.

Nderitu said several victims were rushed to the hospital with deep head and hand cuts

Some were treated and discharged while two are admitted.

He said that the two victims who sustained deep head and hand cuts had to be operated on

Nderitu said that the two would be discharged Friday as their condition was stable.
