10 million counterfeit sanitary pads busted in China

A workshop with more than 10 million counterfeit sanitary napkins worth over $5.9 million was busted by Chinese police recently, state media reported on Sunday (November 6).

Police in southwest China‘s Chongqing seized some sanitary pads packaged as name-brand products in July from from eastern Jiangxi province, state broadcaster CCTV said.

In August, after conducting an investigation, police in the provincial capital Nanchang located a village workshop and found piles of the counterfeit pads, it added.

According to CCTV footage, products with labels that resembled well-known brands like Sofy and Whisper were packed in boxes.

Two suspects, identified as Wan and Luo, were detained on September 3rd, CCTV reported, adding that the fake sanitary napkin ring started three years ago.

State run Xinhua news agency said the workshop had no sterile facilities and that the products had been sold all over the country
