10 people arrested inside a night club in Isebania

Police in Kuria West, Migori County  are holding 10 people who were found drinking in a night club in Isebania town on Sunday night.

Among the people arrested during the crackdown is a bar attendant, Michael Chacha Marwa aged 20 years who will be charged with the offense of operating a night club without a license and also contravening COVID-19 regulations on the sale of alcohol.

Kuria West Sub-county police commander Cleti Kimaiyo said other nine suspects were arrested for disregarding the curfew orders.

The sub county police commander said the owner of the bar Johness Mwita evaded the arrest and they are pursuing him.

Mr.Kimaiyo added that the crackdown is on, warning individuals against disregarding COVID-19 regulations.

The sub-county police boss reiterated that  the fight against COVID-19 should be an individual responsibility, urging the residents to support the government in the fight.

Migori County has reported high cases of COVID-19 positive and deaths during the third wave. Data from the county department of health indicates that 26 people have succumbed to the disease during the third wave, compared to 13 deaths reported during the first and second wave.
