10 people dead after boat capsizes in Lake Victoria -Uganda police

At least 10 people have died after a boat capsized in Lake Victoria on Saturday evening.

More than 40 others were rescued, Ugandan police said.

“The rescue mission is still on to find others,” police spokesman Emilian Kayima told journalists.

According to the Washington Post, there could be others trapped under the water in the completely submerged boat.

The cause of the accident is yet to be established.

This comes barely two months after a similar incident in Tanzania which left over 200 people dead.

One person survived and was found two days after the boat that was carrying over 300 people went under.
