10 people killed in deadly Samburu raid

Ten people have been killed by suspected cattle rustlers at Lopurio area in Samburu North.

The attack occurred at around 9am on Saturday when a group of herders grazing livestock were ambushed by heavily armed men.

The suspects are believed to be from a neighboring county. Lopurio is located about 30km away from Marti town along Maralal-Baragoi road.

Speaking in Maralal town recently, area MP Alois Lentoimaga and Governor Moses Lenolkulal said cattle rustlers are a big threat to security in Samburu North.

They condemned rampant insecurity in Samburu North urged police to use armored personnel courier vehicles during patrols to flush out bandits.
