1,000 litres of illicit brew destroyed in Narok

1,000 liters of illicit brew were destroyed in Narok Town during a routine checkup by County administration officers in London area.

Speaking during the raid, Narok Assistant County Commissioner Emanuel Masikonde said the suspects escaped during the operation.

He expressed concern over the re-surfacing of illicit brew and second generation alcohol dens in the county.

“The suspect escaped during the crackdown. I guess they received a tip-off from someone and escaped the arrest,” he said.

Later on, one suspected brewer was arrested after being found in possession of brewing equipment.

Present during the raid were John Matuye, area community policing officer and Lemeria Tikani area Chief.

The fight against illicit brew has intensified in Kenya.

Last month President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered a second phase of crackdown of illegal alcohol in Central Kenya.
