11-month-old among 492 new cases of coronavirus in Kenya

492 people tested positive for the new coronavirus between Sunday and Monday, the Ministry of Health said in a televised statement on Monday.

The new cases which include 488 Kenyans and 14 foreigners push the total caseload in the country to 26,928.

They were tested from 4063 samples.

The cases are distributed across the country as follows: Nairobi (357), Garissa, (52), Kiambu (37), Kajiado (14), Busia (5), and Baringo (5).

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe who was on a tour of Kericho county also announced 534 recoveries which now push the total number of recoveries to 13,485.

478 of the new recoveries were from people recovering under the Home-based care, while 56 were receiving treatment from various hospitals across the country.

The country also recorded three fatalities, pushing the total number of fatalities in the country so far to 423.
