11 students escape death in grisly road accident
Eleven Moi University students escaped death narrowly on Saturday after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident at Lelmolok area in Uasin Gishu County.
The accident occurred after the Nissan matatu veered off the road and rolled severally due to speeding.
Speaking to Citizen Digital on Sunday, John Abdub, the group’s leader, said: “The driver was at a high speed and when the tyre burst, he lost control, causing the van to roll severally”.
Two of the 11 students suffered serious injuries; with one sustaining a spinal injury while the other was admitted to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital with internal bleeding.
The remaining nine were treated and discharged from the same hospital.
The students were headed to Nakuru for a mentorship program when the accident happened.
