11-year-old boy kidnapped, murdered in Machakos

An 11-year-old was on Sunday found dead just a day after he was reportedly kidnapped while heading to school in Matungulu Constituency, Machakos County.

The body of Nimrod Mutua, which had been stuffed in a sack while still in school uniform, was found dumped at a banana plantation about 200 metres from their home at Kizito village in Machakos.

According to the parents of the boy, their son left for school on Saturday morning but did not return home as expected, prompting them to begin a search for him.

One of the local residents reported that the boy was last seen walking alongside an unknown man.

Katangini Area Assistant Chief Phyllis Musyoka confirmed the incident saying one suspect had been arrested in connection with the incident.

The body of the boy was picked by police officers from Tala Police Station and taken to Kangundo Mortuary as further investigations continue.

This comes as the latest fatal kidnapping involving a minor. Last week, a nine-year-old girl was found dead more that a week after he was kidnapped while walking home from school in Meru County.

The body of Maribel Kapolon, a daughter of Meru Senior Resident Magistrate Carol Kemei, was found dumped at Gitoro Forest in Meru on Sunday evening by a member of the public who alerted the police.
