12 Arrested In A Fake Clinics Raid In Mombasa

Led by the chief executive officer of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board Daniel Yumbya , the officers stormed inspected establishments in Majengo and Kisumu Ndogo within Malindi town in an operation that took close to three hours.
Speaking at a press conference after the operation, Mr Yumbya said that the exercise was done in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, Department of Health Kilifi County, Health Regulatory Boards and councils with the help of the police.
Yumbya pointed out that most of the facilities were found to be run by unqualified personnel something he termed as a great threat to patients.
The exercise included the inspection of hygiene conditions of the facilities, spacing, storage of medicine and conduct and professionalism of the operators.
The Kilifi County director of medical services Dr. Anisa Omar also added that that clinics and medical facilities are required to display the Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) that direct a patient on how he/she was going to be treated.
Those arrested are now being remanded at the Malindi police station and will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
