12 Ethiopian nationals jailed in Embu

Twelve illegal aliens who were dumped in Embu West Sub-county by an unknown motorist were on Thursday jailed for six months.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Maxwell Gicheru, the Ethiopian nationals were charged with being in the country illegally and without permits.

The twelve pleaded guilty to the charges and were fined Ksh 30,000 each or serve the term of six months.

Chief Magistrate Gicheru directed that after serving their jail term they should be repatriated back to their country.

The twelve were identified as Asapa Zalaga, Adino Fitabo, Asafa Ashamo, Amel Fikire, Tasfae Tamasgei, Elamayo Nukuru, Degefa lejiso, Samie Abuye, Tadesa Alamo, Sibano Walde, Yisak Lerebo and Lebona Damise

They were arrested following a tip-off from the members of the public. The 12 were reportedly being transported to South Africa via Nairobi.
