Policeman in grisly Thika Road accident dies
A policeman who was injured in the Thika Road morning accident has died.
Juja OCPD Patrick Manyasi said the officer was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Thika Level Five Hospital.
Witnesses said he was crushed in between the two vehicles as he was conducting an inspection of the Limuru Girls High School bus.
12 students were injured during the morning incident with one of them said to be in critical condition at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
One girl has been moved to the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi with serious injuries.
Reports indicate that Good Samaritans are the ones who pulled them out of the wreckage and took them to hospital.
A school bus driver and teacher were also injured during the incident at Toll area.
It is said that the driver of a lorry that was carrying wheat lost control and rammed into the school bus.
Moments later, a different lorry carrying sand rammed into another school bus belonging to Dagorreti High School.
The two school buses were stationary after the policeman waved them down for work ticket inspection.
A man of Asian origin who was reported to have been in the lorry that was ferrying wheat was also injured in the Saturday morning incident.
Students from Dagorreti High School were left stranded after their bus was reportedly hit from behind by a kanju (city council) van.
