13 Suspected Terrorists Nabbed In Machakos

The swoop is meant to curb criminal activities before, during and after the coming Easter festive season.

Machakos County AP commandant Joseph Keitany said that 13 “terrorist” suspects were apprehended as they were heading to Abubkar Majid Mosque at Joska and KBC along the Kangundo road in Matungulu Sub-County.

The suspects who claimed were going for annual prayers, did not know each other.

The suspects hail from various parts of the country including Isiolo, Garrisa, Thika, Ruiru and Mombasa.

On Saturday, the department of CID and registration of persons was called in to scrutinize their documents to establish their genuine identity and origin.

The suspects are due in court soon since investigations have been launched.

They will be charged with various offenses.

Keitany said police in Machakos County are alert as criminals running away from crackdowns in Nairobi and other major towns in the country were likely to seek hideout in the county.
