13 UDA supporters charged with violating COVID-19 protocols

Thirteen United Democratic Alliance (UDA) supporters who were arrested in a Homa-Bay hotel for convening a meeting contrary to COVID-19 protocols have been arraigned at the Homa Bay Law courts.

The accused persons who appeared before Homa Bay Principal Magistrate Joy Wesonga were charged with engaging in a prohibited meeting.

The UDA supporters who were arrested on Friday, August 27, 2021 in Homa-Bay town pleaded guilty of the offence and were fined Ksh 2,000 or a jail term of one month each.

They pleaded for forgiveness saying they were sorry for what they had done.

In her ruling, Magistrate Wesonga said that failure to pay the fine shall lead to a jail term of one month each.

They have 14 days to file an appeal.
