13-year-old boy drowns in Kericho County

A family in Barotion-Masaita village in Kericho County is mourning after their 13-year-old son drowned in a dam on Saturday.

Londiani MCA Stanley Bett said the boy was swimming with his friends when he was overwhelmed by the waters.

Bett said the boy, who was supposed to report to Form One at Kapcheplanga Secondary School on Monday, slipped into the deepest part of the dam and drowned.

Efforts by his friends to rescue him were fruitless.

They body of the boy was moved to Londiani Hospital mortuary after being retrieved by members of the public.
