14 armed gangsters nabbed in Likoni

Fourteen suspected gangsters armed with crude weapons were arrested at Likoni crossing channel ready to board the Ferry to cross into the island during on New Year’s Eve.

According to Likoni OCPD Willy Simba, four among the arrested suspects are members of the Watalia – a Likoni-based outlawed group that was mentioned in the list that gangs outlawed by Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery recently.

Police suspect that the gangsters – aged between 13 and 25 – were headed to Mama Ngina Island to disrupt New Year celebrations.

They were nabbed with an assortment of crude weapons including fake pistol, knives, machetes and slashers.

12 roles of bhang were also recovered with Simba saying that police have launched a man hunt for other suspects who escaped arrest.

The suspects are currently at Likoni police station and will be arraigned in Mombasa Tuesday.
