14 dead, several injured in Baringo accident

Fourteen people have died while scores others were injured after the Administration Police truck they were travelling in was involved in an accident at Moinonin along the Marigat-Loruk road in Tiaty, Baringo County.

Among those who died on the spot are; three men, 10 women and a child.

According to Baringo North Sub-County Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Sheh Muhammed, the truck was ferrying some residents to Kapedo and 5 AP officers who had gone to Marigat to purchase food stuff for their colleagues attached to Kapedo AP Camp.

Muhammed further said that at the time of the accident, the driver of the truck was avoiding to knock down goats that were crossing the road when he lost control of the vehicle which veered off the road and rolled several times.

Three AP officers sustained serious injuries and were taken to Baringo County Referral Hospital in Kabarnet for specialised treatment.

The bodies have since been moved to Kabarnet County Referral Hospital Mortuary.
