Class 8 pupil charged with stealing car, Ksh.31K in Kajiado

A 14-year-old boy was on Wednesday arraigned before a Kajiado court and charged with stealing a vehicle at Milimani area in Kitengela town.

The court heard that the accused, jointly with others, stole the vehicle model Toyota Premio of registration number KCL 532B valued at Ksh.1.6 million from Jacquelyne Karithoni Gitonga on June 17, 2019.

Appearing before Magistrate Becky Cheloti, the boy was also accused of stealing Ksh.31,000 from the complainant, Ms. Gitonga, on the same day.

He was arrested on June 18, 2019, at a mall in the area after CCTV cameras captured him driving in and parking at the establishment’s basement.

The accused, who is also a Standard 8 pupil set for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations, denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.100,000 or a bond of Ksh.200, 000.

The case was set for mentioning on July 3 and hearing on September 12, 2019.
