15 injured in fresh Trans Mara clashes

At least 15 people are nursing injuries at different hospitals in Kisii and Kilgoris following fresh inter-community clashes in Trans Mara, Narok County.

Confirming the Tuesday morning incident, Narok County Commissioner George Natembeya said the dispute involved members of Iruasi Ngishu sub-clan and Siria Sub-clan who are feuding over land.

“We are going to sort out the land problem by tomorrow (Wednesday). I have instructed the land registrar to produce the map so that we can have this issue resolved,” said Natembeya.

Majority of the victims sustained arrow and spear injuries during the dawn attacks in Keyian division.

The injured were admitted to Kilgoris, Ogembo, Kisii and Tabaka hospital in Rongo constituency.

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina condemned the clan fights, urging the communities to live in harmony.

Tension remains high in the area where similar clashes have previously occurred in Nkararo, Moita and Enooretet areas over land disputes.

Heavy security has since been deployed to the area.
