15 people escape death after their boat capsizes

15 people including a one-year-old baby reportedly escaped death by a whisker after the boat they were sailing in from Lamu to Kiunga overturned at Mkanda area.

Speaking to the press, the survivors explained that the boat that was made of wood, hit a rock in the ocean before it capsized.

The survivors, whose journey was cut short after the incident, lamented that the property they were ferrying sank in the ocean when the boat overturned.

Lamu County Commissioner Joseph Kanyiri urged the residents to be cautious especially during this hurricane season as the ocean tends to be stormy.

This happens barely a month after a similar incident was reported in the same area.
