15 Vehicles Set Ablaze By Angry Residents
Security has been beefed up in Mariashoni and Kiptunga areas of Molo after angry locals burnt 15 vehicles belonging to Comply Industries Ltd.
The vehicles, which include logs loaders, a Toyota Land Cruiser pickup and a Road Grader were set ablaze after two people were knocked down by a motor vehicle belonging Comply on Monday, February 27.
Speaking to Citizen TV, the residents alleged the local forest management was corrupt and that it listened to none of their issues.
Nakuru County Commander, Hassan Barua, said that police had already lodged investigations into the matter and action will be taken against anyone found culpable of any wrongdoing.
Mr Barua said they had not made any arrests at the time of going to press and that logging has been stopped with immediate effect.
He further urged the residents to be careful in handling issues affecting them instead of taking the law into their hands.
The Commander said that the investigations have begun and all the culprits who led to the burn of the properties will be brought to book and legal action will be taken against them.
