16-year-old boy arrested after confessing to killing brother with a jembe
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly killing his 14-year-old brother following a heated land dispute at their Nyakeore village home in Nyamira.
According to George Maoga, the area chief, the deceased got into an argument with his brother after the latter planted grass inside the deceased’s vegetable patch.
“The suspect went and planted grass inside the deceased’s vegetable farm, occasioning a heated argument,” Maoga explained.
The deceased who was incensed at the provocation is said to have uprooted the grass from the vegetable farm shortly after.
In a retaliatory move, the suspect who was armed with a jembe attacked his brother cutting him viciously on the neck and head.
He then proceeded to bury the body at the same farm without a word to any of his family members.
On Saturday morning however, witnesses say he woke up and went to the farm where he had buried the body and exhumed it.
He then summoned his family and confessed to having killed his younger brother in a fit of rage.
The body of the deceased was removed to the Nyamira County Referral Hospital and the matter reported to the Nyamira police station for investigations.
