16yr old KCSE candidate shot dead in Githurai

A 16 year old KCSE candidate was shot dead last night by armed robbers at Mwihoko ward Githurai in Ruiru constituency.

Edward Mwaura who was a student at Githurai Mixed secondary school had left home to a friend’s house when he got shot by robbers who were robbing an M-Pesa shop in the area.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Chege, a friend to the deceased, onlookers and neighbors tried to warn them but unfortunately Edward who had earphones could not hear.

The four armed robbers escaped the scene using motorbykes while neighbors immediately rushed to where the boy was lying.

Edward’s father John Maina says he heard gun shots while with his wife in their house just in the neigborhood.

Residents are now decrying over cases of insecurity which they say have become rampant in the are.

The body was taken to Kenyatta University funeral home.
