19-year-old boy attacked by lost elephants fighting for his life in Baringo

A 19-year-old boy is fighting for his life at the Eldama Ravine Referral Hospital Baringo after he was attacked by elephants in a forest in Timboroa village, Koibatek Sub-County.

Emmanuel Kipchumba is said to have been attacked on Thursday after he went to the forest to search for his father’s livestock that had gone missing the previous day.

Baringo County Deputy warden David Cheruiyot affirmed that there were five elephants spotted wandering in the area.

According to the victim’s father Simeon Chebiegon, his son was reportedly trampled on by the elephants and left unconscious.

He was later rescued by good Samaritans who rushed him to Timboroa Health Center where he received first aid before he was transferred to Eldama Ravine Referral Hospital for specialised treatment.

The father is appealing to Kenya Wildlife Service to assist him pay the hospital bill.

Police have commenced investigations on the same.
