2 directors of land company killed

Two directors of the infamous Kihiu Mwiri land buying company were Wednesday morning shot dead by unknown people inside the farm in Murang’a County.

Murang’a County Adminstration Police (AP) commandant Kinyua Josphat confirmed the killings adding that the two Zachariah Chege and Josphat Kibe were travelling on a motorcycle from the farm when an unknown number of people sprayed them with bullets at around 6:00AM.

Further information indicates that the two were scheduled to have a meeting with the acting Lands Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i who visited the company last month and formed a probe team to fast-track the issuance of title deeds.

The two now adds to the list of more than 10 directors of the company who have been killed under mysterious circumstances.

The giant land-buying firm has been embroiled in a bitter leadership wrangle pitting two rival groups for the last two decades, with each seeking to control the firm.

The original members of the company were age-mates to founding President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and were mainly from Gatundu in Kiambu and Murang’a counties.
