2 Gangsters Shot Dead In Nairobi

The shootout occurred this morning, Wednesday, behind Kimathi House in the CBD.

A woman was also injured by a stray bullet and was rushed to hospital

Two other gangsters managed to escape from the crime scene.

Central OCPD Patrick Oduma said that the suspects were planning to rob a client who was exiting from a nearby Barclays Bank Branch when the police engaged them.

Oduma added that they had been trailing the suspects and caught up with them this morning during the robbery attempt.

“One of them was inside the banking hall identifying those making large withdrawals so he could alert the three who remained at the bank entrance,” he explained.

The police recovered four handcuffs, a radio similar to the ones used by law enforcers and a police certificate of appointment which Oduma claimed was fake.

Cases of bank clientele being robbed while exiting from the banking halls has been rampant in the past few months.

Oduma is assuring Kenyans that security outside banks will be heightened to reduce robberies
