2 Police Reservists Wounded In Cattle Raid

The duo sustained gunshot injuries from exchange of firearms with the raiders in Turkwel region bordering West Pokot and Turkana Counties.

Herders from one of the communities are said to have had taken their animals to a water point along the Turkwel River  at around 10:00 am when a gang of about 20 suspected armed raiders attacked them.

Kaptelimo location Chief Lodokwa Ng’olepus confirmed the incident but said the raiders managed to escape with some injuries but without stealing any animals.

West Pokot senator John Lonyangapuo visited the victims at Turkwel health center and called on the government to increase the number of KPRs in the volatile border region.

“If security units in areas that hardly face insecurity issues are given Ksh. 300,000 liters of fuel then the reservists here should receive double because of volatile border region which often faces challenges of insecurity,” added Lonyangapou.

Police are pursuing the attackers to bring them to book.
