2 Suspects Arrested Over 6 Tusks

Two of the suspects were arrested at Clayworks along Nairobi-Thika Highway while ferrying the tusks in a Nissan saloon

The two, Stephen Mwangi Gitonga and Edward Maina were said to be ferrying the tusks from Nyeri to a destination in Nairobi.

After being intercepted by the police, the suspects led the police to another suspect in Kayole, Nairobi.

The suspect living in Kayole then led the police to one suspected buyer Bishar Adaw Hassan who is based at Eastleigh, Nairobi.

All the four suspects are expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow.

The arrests come at a time when the government is cracking down on smuggling of wildlife products.

The offence is punishable by payment of Ksh 20M or seven years imprisonment.
