20 Congolese Refugees Dumped In Isiolo Town

Amongst the refugees are five women, one man and fourteen children some as young as 3 years.

The refugees have been on the run looking for a habitable dwelling since October last year.

According to one of the victims, Francin Maombi, one of the greatest challenges they are facing was taking care of the small children aged below 5 years, some of whom are unwell.

The officer in charge, department of refugee affairs in Eastern region Mohammed Galgallo said the office does not have a place to host or feed them because of luck of funds.

The officer in charge issued them with movement passes that allows the refugees to move around without being arrested.

He also said that he has communicated with the head office in Nairobi to plan on how they can be relocated to Kakuma or Dadaab refugee camps.

Francin Maombi thanked the women of Isiolo for their generosity towards them as they were offered food relief from Isiolo residents.

For now, they are still in the streets of Isiolo hoping that their plight will soon be addressed by the department of refugee affairs.
