2022 campaign talks uncalled for, Nakuru MCA says

Kenyan politicians are being urged to shelve 2022 succession talk and focus on development.

According to Nakuru county assembly member Peter Mbae (Kabazi Ward), the campaigns are unnecessary.

He said leaders need to heed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s call of refraining from politics and channel their energies on serving Kenyans.

Addressing the media in Nakuru on Tuesday, Mr. Mbae said the country has just came from an economically draining election and continued politicking will only make Kenyans suffer even more.

He also warned that it could cause unnecessary animosity between communities living within the Rift Valley.

Mr. Mbae reminded politicians from the Jubilee party that the President had assured them that he would lead the campaign for DP Ruto in 2022 so they should not worry.

He criticised remarks by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko over the weekend that some people from central Kenya are working to scuttle Mr. Ruto’s succession plan.
