Police officers in Webuye, Bungoma County, are presently holding 21 teenagers who were arrested at an alcohol-filled birthday party at a hotel.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Webuye OCPD Valerian Obore said police stormed the hotel after receiving a tip-off from members of the public about the minors partying.
The police boss urged parents to be mindful of their children’s activities during this period in which they are home so that they do not go astray and stumble onto irresponsible acts such as alcoholism.
In an almost similar instance, twenty other people – also including minors – were arrested while drinking during curfew in Maralal, Samburu County.
Area Assistant Chief Celina Lemakara said bar owners have now resorted to transporting alcohol to their homes where they host revelers and sell alcohol to them.
Lemakara urged other area administrators to conduct crackdowns on such places saying they increase the risk of spreading COVID-19.
