Residents of Kaitheri village in Kirinyaga County are still in shock after a 22-year-old student committed suicide on Wednesday, September 14, leaving behind a suicidal note saying he had lost hope in life.

The family had previously withheld information concerning his death, until late Thursday, September 15 when the Kirinyaga Central OCPD, Eliud Monari, released the suicidal note to the media.

According to Monari, suicide cases in the county have been on the rise, with ten other cases reported in the last three months.

The OCPD said that the victim was set to join Karatina University College later in the year.
