28 Chuka students to attend Obamas address

Chuka University now says 28 of its students have been picked to attend a public address by President Barack Obama set to be held at Safaricom Indoor Arena at the Kasarani Gymnasium.

Addressing the press on Tuesday, Chuka University Vice Chancellor Prof Erastus Njoka said the US Embassy, through Ambassador Robert F. Godec, had written to the institution asking for the submission names of 28 students who will be cleared to attend the event.

Prof Njoka said the Dean of Students and Students’ leaders are consulting on who should be considered for the event.

The letter also stipulates that, among the code of conduct and requirements, is a clause barring the students from carrying small cameras.

Mr. Njoka, who claimed to have received a personal invitation at the US Embassy in Gigiri on Friday, said he would use the occasion to drum support for his institution to entrepreneurs.

The students will travel on Saturday night for the event set for Sunday.
