28-year-old man arrested over the gruesome murder of his father in Nakuru

A 28-year-old man who has been on the run on Saturday surrendered to police in connection with last week’s gruesome murder of his father.

Sospeter Kinyanjui Thairu was interrogated and several exhibits recovered from his hideout, now making him the prime suspect in the killing of Charles Thairu Kinyanjui on September 8, 2020 at Barnabas area in Nakuru.

Sospeter joins three other suspects among them the deceased’s wife, daughter and another son who were previously arrested over the incident and are in lawful custody.

“The arrest of the nuclear family members was effected after detectives found inconsistencies in the circumstances surrounding the murder, where the deceased was found in a pool of blood in his car parked outside the gate to his home, yet there were blood stains in one of the bedrooms which someone had attempted to clean,” said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The 48-year-old wife, son (23) and daughter (24) who had allegedly found the 59-year-old man unconscious and rushed him to Mediheal Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival were immediately arrested for interrogations, with the eldest son disappearing.

Upon his surrender and interrogations, detectives proceeded to Ndimu Ndege area within Bahati sub-county in Nakuru where the Sospeter is said to have disposed the murder weapons and burned his bloodstained clothes.

Several exhibits were recovered including two metal rods, a bloodstained iron file, remains of burnt clothes, several syringes and a cash savings tin.

The suspect was booked in the cells as further investigations continue.
