3 killed as boat capsizes in Lake Victoria

Three fishermen in Nyatike, Migori County drowned after their boat capsized Friday night at Oodi Nyamanga, Lake Victoria.

Beach management unit Chairman Odhiambo Adhaja said that his deputy, Boniface Odidi, was among those who perished in the accident.

The three were fishing when the accident took place.

The sole survivor, Odhiambo, was rescued by fellow fishermen after swimming for more than three hours.

The beach management Unit chairman however says that the three bodies are yet to be retrieved. He said the search will begin after three days when the bodies are expected to be floating on the water.

Adhaja also says that police will conduct the search operation.
