The suspects Alice Muthoni 52, Lucy Njoki 40 and Rachael Wanjiru allegedly stole and used their handbags to sneak the goods.

The shoe polish was valued at more than Ksh. 5000.

Police added that she later on confessed stealing shoe polish frequently and then hawk them in an open market at a throw away price.

Another suspect, Njoki who at one point feigned unconsciousness denied stealing from the shop

She said she was shopping in the supermarket when she was caught and then mistaken to be a shoplifter.

Wanjiru said she had been taken to the supermarket by her friends who had promised to show her where they get their goods at cheaper prices.

According to the supermarket Purchase Manager Joseph Kinyua, goods worth Ksh. 20,000 to 30,000 have disappeared from the shop shelves in the last two months.
