3 Suspected Shoplifters Arrested In Nyahururu

The three are said to be part of a six-member gang that has been robbing retail shops in the area.

The three among them a man and two women were being monitored through CCTV cameras as they picked items and put them in a bag before the management of The Spear Supermarket pounced on them.

On discovering they have been cornered, the suspects decided to dash out of the supermarket but were restrained by security personnel awaiting them just at the door way.

Monicah Mbugua, a manager at the supermarket said there has been a series of complaints from their attendants over missing un-accounted items prompting the management to take precautions and strategically put their staff on the alert.

She stated that the arrest was a breakthrough facilitated by the monitoring surveillance screen.

Mbugua further added that it has been a challenge to identify the suspects as they took turns posing as customers.

The manager narrated how the suspects use a shopping basket but instead of taking their items to the cashier, they load it to their hand bags which are then picked by another accomplice standing strategically next to them while also keeping watch to the attendants.

The three are expected to be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are completed.
