30 injured after buses decline to give way

More than 30 passengers were seriously injured early Wednesday morning after two buses collided at the junction next to Pangani Police Station in Nairobi.

According to the Head of Traffic in Pangani, Jeniffer Mutuku, preliminary investigations revealed that the 5am accident involved one bus from the Central Business District (CBD) and another from Eastleigh which collided because none of the drivers were willing to give way for the other.

Mutuku added that five ambulances arrived at the scene and rushed the injured to hospital, including both drivers.

Passengers’ belongings, including shoes, clothes and foodstuffs were strewn all over the area.

Police have launched investigations into the incident while the wreckages of the buses were towed to Pangani Police Station.
