30 people arrested drinking in bars during curfew in Migori

Police officers in Migori County are holding 30 people who were found drinking in bars during the government sanctioned curfew.

Kuria West sub county Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the suspects were arrested in three separate bars within Kehancha town during the crackdown mounted by police.

Kimaiyo said among the people arrested are several employees of the bars found operating past the recommended time.

The police boss said the suspects will be arraigned in court on Monday, adding that the crackdown was a warning to bar operators and other members of the public flouting the rules.

He said police have stepped up enforcement of COVID-19 protocols in the area hence warning locals against disregarding the directives.

Early this week, top county security bosses indicated that there are bars flouting COVID-19 rules among them.
