Over 300 Nyamira employees to miss November salary over absenteeism

Over 300 Nyamira County employees will miss their November salary for being absent from duty, the county government has announced.

Through a circular dated Friday, November 23, Head of Public Service Erick Aori directed that their salaries be withheld until the county government establishes their whereabouts when a roll call was taken a week ago.

According to Aori, the directive was reached after the county executive held a special sitting on Thursday, November 22.

The recommendation arrived at during the meeting directs Chief Officers to verify the whereabouts of the said staff within a period of 30 days before any payments can be released.

Last week, Aori made an impromptu visit in all county offices and found out that only a few members of staff had reported to work by 9.00 am.

Currently, the county government has employed over 4,500 workers with the health department having the largest share.
