31 injured in dormitory fire at Highway Secondary in Nairobi

Thirty-one students of Highway Secondary School in South B, Nairobi, were Sunday morning rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) after a fire broke out at the school dormitory.

According to the KNH head of communications Simon Ithae, majority of the students were managed for smoke inhalation and soft tissue injuries.

Twenty-seven of the students have since been discharged with the remaining still under observation.

They are, however, reported to be in stable condition.

The school has since been closed as investigations being launched into the cause of the fire that began at around 8am.

Sources indicate that a number of students at Highway Secondary School are under investigation over the incident suspected to be an arson attack as has been witnessed in various schools across the country.
