32 students from Nasoko Girls in the cold after school kicks them out

32 students from Nasoko Girls School in West Pokot spent the night in the cold at the Kitale showground after allegedly being sent home by the school principal.

Kitale is approximately two hours away from West Pokot and it is not yet clear how the students got to the showground.

The students were apparently part of a football scholarship program that saw them picked from different schools to play for Nasoko Girls School.

According to them, their tuition was negotiated on the same terms but the school apparently reneged on the offer and kicked them out.

The school principal allegedly told them that the football season was over and that they were now required to pay school fees like regular students.

Parents have accused the school management of misleading them and demanding they pay Ksh.52,000 before the students can be allowed to resume classes.

They are urging the Ministry of Education to intervene in the matter so that their children return to school.
