A 32-year-old man accused of impersonating a police officer is presently being detained at Migori Police Station.
Antony Obare was on Tuesday arrested by police officers around Huduma Centre in Migori after he reportedly attempted to con a woman.
Confirming the incident, Migori County Police boss Joseph Nthenge said the suspect was trying to con a nurse working at Migori Level Four Hospital when he was nabbed.
Mr. Nthenge said the police officers, acting on a tip off from the said nurse, lured the imposter to Huduma Centre where they pounced on him.
Mr. Obare was – upon his arrest – found in possession of a fake police identification card purporting that he was a Senior Superintendent attached to the Criminal Investigations Department.
According to the police boss, the imposter – who hails from Oruba estate in Suna West – is still in custody pending investigations and will be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
