33-year-old suspected serial fraudster arrested over sale of hired vehicles
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kiambu on Sunday arrested a suspect accused of involvement in fraudulent sale of hired motor vehicles.
Eunice Lewa Kimondiu, a resident of Kahawa Sukari, was arrested in Gatundu where she was allegedly planning to sell a Toyota Wish hired from Kitale.
The would have been buyer had however escorted a female friend to the DCI office to report a case where the suspect had sold to her a hired Toyota Axio using forged documents.
The Toyota Axio was later only to be towed away from a car wash after she had paid the suspect an agreed sum of Ksh.630,000.
“This was after the responsible car hire agency reported to police of a stolen hired car, which detectives tracked to the car wash in Ruaka and confirmed that it was on hire from Nakuru,” said the DCI in a statement.
Kimondiu, 33, was arrested in possession of forged documents by undercover detectives who had accompanied the said buyer.
She is presently being held at the Kiambu Police Station awaiting arraignment.
