34-year-old man’s leg amputated after he was bitten by hyena

A man whose leg was bitten by a hyena early Tuesday morning has had it amputated at Machakos Level 5 Hospital.

34-year-old Nicholas Maingi was initially treated at Kangundo Level 5 Hospital but was on Wednesday referred to the Machakos facility where the procedure was done.

Mr. Maingi was reportedly attacked by the beast at around 5am on Tuesday before being taken to hospital later that day at around 3pm.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, he said he was coming back from watching a football match when he was attacked.
