Kirinyaga: Cops arrest woman who killed son ,5, while performing an exorcism

Shock has engulfed Mukui Village in Kirinyaga county after a 36-year-old woman strangled to death, her 5-year-old boy alleging that she was exorcising him.

According to Joseph Wanjoh-the suspect’s husband-, his wife claimed she was speaking to her gods who had instructed her to strangle the minor.

Shocked residents said this is the first incident in their village which has left tongues wagging and confusion reigning high. 

“She is a follower of an Akorino church at Kiangwaci, but we wonder whether that is what they believe in,” Susan Nyawira said.

The body of the nursery pupil at Mukui Primary School was moved to Kerugoya Hospital Mortuary awaiting an autopsy.

Confirming the incident, Ndia sub-county Deputy county commissioner Moses Ivuto said the suspect is being held at Sagana police station and will be arraigned at the Baricho court on Monday.
