371 corruption and economic crimes cases pending before courts DPP

A total of 371 corruption and economic crimes cases are pending before the courts.

In a statement to newsrooms from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), out of the 371 cases, 88 are high profile corruption cases involving state officials, county government officials and former government officials linked to grand corruption cases like Anglo Leasing, financial mismanagement in the national and county governments among other graft and economic crimes cases.

According to the DPP, status of corruption cases report compiled on the 16th of this month, high profile individuals with pending corruption and economic crimes cases before the courts are former Cabinet Ministers David Mwairaria, Amos Kimunya, Garissa Governor Nathif Jama, his Muranga counterpart Mwangi Wa Iria, Senator Chris Obure, former PS’s Bitange Ndemo, Sammy Kirui among others.
