Doreen Lugaliki becomes first Kenyan doctor to succumb to COVID-19
Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has mourned the death of Dr. Doreen Lugaliki who has succumbed to the new coronavirus.
In a post on social media, KMPDU said the Dr.Lugaliki contracted the virus while at work, reiterating on the need for the government to protect frontline workers.
KMPDU mourns the death of Dr. Doreen Adisa Lugaliki who passed on due to COVID-19 contracted at the work place. We reiterate & remind GOK & ALL Private health facilities that the Welfare,Occupational Safety & Health of frontline workers is a non-negotiable Minimum!!

Dr.Lugaliki was served as an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at The Nairobi South Hospital and had been admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital ICU unit.
The 38-year-old doctor becomes the first Kenyan doctor to succumb to the novel coronavirus.
Her colleagues led by Dr Ouma Oluga described the deceased as a diligent doctor whose best years were yet to come.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Health announced 447 new COVID-19 cases bringing the country’s case load closer to the 9,000 mark.
