36-year-old squatter births Mandago, Shollei

A 36-year-old woman in Uasin Gishu County has named her newly born triplets after local elected leaders.

Winnie Chebet Ngetich, a mother of nine gave birth to the triplets, one boy and two girls and named them after Uasin Gishu Governor-elect Jackson Mandago, Woman Representative-elect Gladys Boss Shollei and Turbo MP-elect Janet Rotich, her preferred leaders for those elective positions in the 2017 poll.

Ms. Chebet, a squatter living inside Recruits Training School in Kamagut village in Uasin Gishu County, is now mother to 9 children.

“I gave birth to my three children on Election Day, initially I thought I was going to have twins. When I knew I had triplets, I decided to name them after the leaders I wanted to triumph,” Ms Chebet says.

Ms Chebet, however, says that though she is happy she is concerned since neither she nor her husband have a job or regular income to sustain the family’s needs.

“I thank God for my children but I don’t know how I will make ends meet, my husband doesn’t have a job, he only depends on menial jobs which feeds us but what happens when the children grow up and need to go to school?”

She, however, says that she and her husband will work hard and earn a living.
